Our pick of the best new timepieces from Rolex as released at Baselworld 2015.
The world’s premier annual watch fair, Baselworld, has been and gone for another year! Every year, we attend the fair in Basel, Switzerland to view the new models from the world’s most luxurious watch manufacturers and make our selection for our Perth showroom.
This year we saw the launch of a number of great new releases from Rolex, OMEGA, Breitling, TUDOR and Ball. In this blog, we review some of the highlights from arguably the world’s leading luxury watch manufacturer - Rolex.
Models are available to order now and select timepieces will be available in store later in the year.
Rolex never fails to impress. Every year the brand delivers another exceptional collection.
This year was particularly significant as the brand unveiled its new generation mechanical movement for the Day-Date models – the Calibre 3255 sets a new standard for chronometric performance. Its power reserve extends to three days (approximately 70 hours), representing an increase of 24 hours (or 50 per cent) compared to that of the previous generation. This means that the watch will easily continue to run over a weekend without needing to be rewound. Calibre 3255 is resistant to magnetic interferences beyond the values encountered in daily life. Calibre 3255 offers faster and more efficient self-winding, distinct easy-to-sense positions on the winding stem, unrestricted calendar correction at any time and very precise time setting.
We are fans of the Day-Date 40mm yellow gold, fluted bezel version shown right.
Rolex Lady Date-Just
In 2015, Rolex has introduced the new generation of its Oyster Perpetual Lady Date-Just redesigned with a larger 28mm case. The new Lady-DateJust complements the new Day-Date and follows a similar aesthetic evolution: refined lugs and middle case, a broad and clear dial, as well as a President or Jubilee bracelet closely integrated into the Oyster case. The model is offered in 950 platinum or in 18ct yellow or Everose gold with new dials.
We particularly love the Everose gold with chocolate dial and diamond ‘star’ settings shown right.
The new Yacht-Master is a black and 18ct Everose gold version. The strap is the exclusive, innovative Oysterflex bracelet developed and patented by Rolex, This technical bracelet combined the robustness and reliability of a metal bracelet with the flexibility, comfort and aesthetics of an elastomer strap. At its core lies a superelastic metal blade overmoulded with high-performance black elastomer.
Rolex Oyster Perpetual
Rolex has released new versions of its quintessential Oyster Perpetual model by introducing a new 39mm size as well as new dials for the 26, 31 and 34mm sizes. This is an accessible Rolex. Its growing range of sizes and dials will appeal to fans of its classic, simple beauty.
Our pick is the new larger 39mm model with the blue (shown right) or dark rhodium dial.
